In addition to European early music, Hortus Musicus has been fascinated by and has fascinated their listeners with oriental sounds over the years. The opportunities to make music with colleagues from further away are especially appreciated. Nissim Lugasi teaches singing at the Maqamat School of Oriental Music in Tzfat (Safed), northern Israel, of which he is the musical director. His wife Karen also teaches at the school. The concert features Persian and Ottoman Turkish tunes as they were brought to Europe from the Crusades, and as they persisted there and changed over the centuries.
This concert takes place in cooperation with Eesti Kontsert.
