Young, fresh and unique AUREUM Saxophon Quartett is an ensemble of four young and talented Austrian musicians whose playing combines tradition with a modern approach and whose diverse repertoire ranges from baroque to contemporary music. Each performer complements the ensemble in a unique way according to their interests that include classical music, jazz as well as world music. All members of the quartet have studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna and also at several other educational institutions. Soprano saxophonist Martina Stückler has studied with Johan van der Linden in the Netherlands and has won recognition at several international competitions. Alto saxophone player Johannes Weichinger has excellent skills in jazz and clarinet playing. Viola Jank (tenor saxophone) has won prizes at the Prima la Musica, Allegro Vivo and Musica Juventutis competitions and has performed as a soloist with the Tonkünstler Symphony Orchestra, the Vienna Symphony Orchestra and others. The baritone saxophonist Lukas Seifried has also a degree in musicology and music pedagogy. In addition to Austria, AUREUM has performed in several countries including Italy, England, Turkey, Poland and Slovenia and has played at the Wiener Konzerthaus, Wiener Musikverein and Festspielhaus Salzburg. In the 2020/2021 season the ensemble was part of the Austrian music export program New Austrian Sound of Music.
