The New Baltic Sound Quartet, consisting of four renowned Baltic musicians, was founded in 2021, aiming to inspire the creation of new works by composers from the Baltic States and their promotion all over the world. The ensemble has performed in the main concert halls of Lithuania and Latvia and with the highest ratings at festivals such as the Gaida International Contemporary Music Festival, the International Festival ‘Permainų muzika’, the International Festival ‘Cello Cesis’ as well as Kintai Music Festival, where the quartet was a residing ensemble in 2023, performing new pieces by Peeter Vähi and a rising Lithuanian star composer Silvija Miliūnaitė that are included also in Glasperlenspiel’s programme.
Dalia Dédinskaité is one of the most prominent violinists of her generation in the Baltic States. She has won the main prize at the international competition “Violine in Dresden 2010” and has given numerous concerts around Europe, the USA and New Zealand. She has also performed as a soloist together with the Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra, Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra, Dresdner Kapellsolisten and the symphonic orchestra “Carl Maria von Weber” of Dresden. In 2014 she debuted at the Wiener Musikverein. Since 2017 Dédinskaité has held the position of assistant to Prof. Christian Altenburger at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna.
Gleb Pyšniak, the student of the legendary cellist Natalia Gutman has performed in the most famous concert halls all over the world including the Wiener Musikverein, Royal Concertgebouw of Amsterdam and the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory. As a soloist he has given concerts with the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra, the Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra, the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra, the Symphonic Orchestra of the Moscow Conservatory, the St. Christopher Chamber Orchestra, Sinfonietta Rīga, the Porto Symphony Orchestra, to mention just a few. He has received the highest evaluations in significant national and international competitions and an award from the hands of Valdas Adamkus, the President of the Republic of Lithuania, for promoting the country abroad. Pyšniak has enriched his skills in the master classes of Yo-Yo Ma, Mstislav Rostropovich, Silvija Sondeckienė and Heinrich Schiff.
Pavel Giunter is a recognized Lithuanian percussionist and prominent soloist performing classical, modern, world and jazz music. He has been constantly taking part in classical and modern music projects together with St. Christopher Chamber Orchestra, Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra, Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra, as well with various chamber music ensembles and soloists. He has performed in many festivals all over the world in cities such as Berlin and Osnabrück, Helsinki, Warsaw, Novi Sad, Minsk, Riga, Gaida and others. Pavel Giunter has cooperated with luminaries including Martha Argerich, Nelson Freire, Julian Rachlin, David Geringas, Nebojša Jovan Živković, Linda Maxey, Michael Udow, Frédéric Macarez, Pedro Carneiro, Anthony Di Sanza, Roger Braun, Fernando Meza, Benjamin Tith, Vladimir Tarasov and others.
Guntars Freibergs has studied percussion in the Conservatory of Strasbourg, Royal Conservatory of Brussels and the Anton Bruckner University of Linz. He has won various prizes in many international percussion competitions, including Grand Prix in international competition “Days of Percussion” in Fermo and 2nd prize in Salzburg international marimba competition. Freibergs has a notable solo performance experience with such orchestras as Latvian National Symphony Orchestra, chamber orchestra Sinfonietta Rīga, the Moscow chamber orchestra Musica Viva, South Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, Plovdiv Philharmonic Orchestra, Professional Wind Orchestra Rīga and the Latvian National Opera Orchestra. He has also been given solo recitals in most European countries. Freibergs is a three-time nominee for “The Latvian Grand Music Award” (2011, 2017, 2019).
