As one of Europe’s finest chamber orchestras, Kremerata Baltica’s participation in the Glasperlenspiel Music Festival is becoming an almost annual meritorious tradition that always offers something new to discover alongside its known excellence. This year, the Kremerata is joined by Stathis Karapanos, a Greek flautist of the new generation with numerous achievements, who has attracted recognition for his original interpretations and whose development as a musician has been influenced by collaborations with greats such as Zubin Mehta, Christoph Eschenbach, Ádám Fischer and others. Karapanos has won the Leonard Bernstein Award at the prestigious Schleswig-Holstein Festival (2020) and the LOTTO Prize at the Rheingau Festival (2019). The concert will also feature the legendary Gidon Kremer himself as soloist. Alongside the canonical Beethoven and Schubert, the programme will include fascinating works by Polish composer Grażyna Bacewicz and Sofia Gubaidulina, a brilliant contemporary of Pärt, Schnittke and Sylvestrov.
